…Or driven off-plan by pressing problems?
We see many smaller to mid-size companies that just do not have a current plan to follow.
Further, they are spending all of their management bandwidth trying their best to solve problems that are keeping them from having a plan, or staying on the plan they did have.
We know from experience that companies trying to both, Effectively plan, while also in the midst of solving problems:
- Actually discover, (sometimes sadly, after it is too late) that they have not really been making effective, forward-looking plans for growth and true prosperity.
- They’ve really been floundering; mostly “planning day-to-day” how to get out of their seemingly never-ending problem-based predicaments.
Does that sound familiar?
Many more established companies have been through a few cycles like that. One thing which distinguishes the most successful companies is their choice to use talented and experienced problem-solvers or crisis managers who stood in to effectively eliminate their most pressing problems, enabling the company to stay, or get back on their rails.
Sometimes these professionals are also asked to stay engaged to “enable best practice” in: Developing plans for the future twists and turns in the road ahead.

Mark – this is so well written and once again demonstrates your many abilities. BRS is indeed fortunate to have you on their Founders Team. In your background, I particularly enjoyed reading the second paragraph, and can validate it is so true. PS I love your picture. All the best, it was great getting together. Carolyn
Thanks Carolyn, Yes we did many good things for people and companies together at BPM Partners. It is great we can keep in touch.
Very thoughtful article, Mark! Sounds like the BRS team would be the right group to tap for crisis management and complex problem solving! I’ll be on the lookout for colleagues and associates in the business that may need your team’s great assistance. Linda
